A beautifully executed oil on canvas 'portrait of a gentleman', portrait of Thomas Gainsborough, or perhaps indeed painted by a follower or within the circle ofThomas Gainsborough. The painting is framed with a gold over mount and the gilt gesso frame has an attached rubbed label that reads "T Gainsborough". The picture has been photographed from similar angles but different distances to capture the reflectivity and condition. Some age related cracks to the mount.
