A late C19th or early C20th Christmas decalcomania / decoupage ball with a myriad of figures attached internally / inside the glass, then the background has been painted white. Very slight lifting as shown on a couple of pasted figures of a girl and a soldier, etc.
There are birds, angels, soldiers, Santa, roses, clowns, a collie dog, etc., etc. ... quite extraordinary. Original waxed paper stopping to the base.
The witches ball is photographed on a small pot simply to display it without it rolling around! It will stand on the stopping at the base, but this is very narrow at 3.5cm which isn't really sufficent.
There are some tiny photographs of children which I would sugget were members of the family who made this wonderful item which make it more unusual. Whom they are has been lost in the mist of time.
